Humanitarian programmes are deployed all over the world in disaster situations, and it’s vital that if you work in this sector you have the right skills and knowledge to work ethically, safely and professionally wherever they are working. To achieve this, this pathway introduces you to the following competencies of the Core Humanitarian Competency Framework:

  1. Upholding humanitarian principles and standards
  2. Ensuring safety and security
  3. Working effectively and impactfully
  4. Maintaining professionalism and resilience
  5. Fostering collaboration and partnership
  6. Demonstrating Leadership

This Learning Pathway has been created based on the competency framework that was developed in South Sudan.

 How long will it take?
The pathway is divided into 6 sections. Sections 1-4 are essential to achieving the selected competencies and take approximately 25 hours to complete. Sections 5-6 are recommended and take approximately 7 hours to complete.

You do not have to complete the pathway in one sitting. It is suggested that you complete over several weeks or months.
Your progress through each section is tracked so you can return to your learning at any time and pick up where you left off. You can choose to complete only those sections that are most useful to you or complete the whole pathway.
