Welcome to Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Coherence Considerations!

In this 45-minute course, you will learn the 7 core HDP coherence principles established by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) alongside examples of the principles in action.

After completing this course, you will:

  • understand the importance of HDP coherence and its principles;
  • possess clear examples of HDP coherence in practice; and
  • understand how to apply HDP coherence principles in your own work.
Developed by IDEAL in close partnership with the USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA), this course compliments the Programming Considerations for Humanitarian-Development-Peace Coherence: A Note for USAID's Implementing Partners, which identifies what USAID has learned in its pursuit of HDP coherence as well as promising practices. This course will review key learnings from the document.
