Welcome to the LEARNING SERIES on Tackling child marriage in child protection and gender-based violence programming UPDATED
This self-paced, online course will increase the knowledge, skills and capacity of staff to better tackle the practice of child marriage in humanitarian programming, especially in forced displacement settings.
This course is intended for child protection and gender-based violence staff, but may also be relevant for staff working in other sectors.
The first three modules in this series centre on key challenges and gaps in knowledge and capacity as identified by country teams. They have been developed based on learnings from three pilot projects in 2021-2023 as well as both organisations programming experience and expertise.
The modules not only include content to improve the technical knowledge, but also incorporate activities and reflection exercises for practitioners to critically reflect on their own biases and values when it comes to meeting the needs of adolescent girls, both non-married and ever married girls.
This course consists of three modules:
- The adolescent girl-responsive approach to child marriage programming
- Supporting married girls and unmarried girls at risk of child marriage in case management
- Co-designing child marriage prevention strategies with girls and their community
These modules have been developed for self-guided learning or as part of a group study guided by a technical facilitator. If you are interested in setting up a study group, please contact us.
As of October 2024, only Module 1 has been released. Module 2 and Module 3 will be available very soon. If you register for Module 1, we will send you an email to inform you when the other modules become available.
Modules can be taken in any order, but it is recommended to start with the Module 1 on the The adolescent girl-responsive approach to child marriage programming in order to ensure a strong foundational knowledge of the topic and the guiding theory behind the other technical modules.
Each module is composed of 3 parts with a final module assessment which you will need to pass in order to receive a completion certificate. You do not need to complete all parts of the module in one go, you can finish one and then complete the next part another time if you prefer to add more breaks in your learning journey. You can revisit the content that you have already completed at any time, but you cannot jump ahead.
Handout documents are available to download throughout the module content, as well as links to additional resources, tools and guidance to support participant’s learning journey.
The course will also be available in French soon.
