Welcome to Age Inclusive Humanitarian Interventions (AIHI)
This self-guided course is divided into five
modules to increase the knowledge on mainstreaming Older People in the
humanitarian interventions.
Is this course for me? This course is designed for any staff and volunteers in humanitarian
organisations at community, local, national or international level, including
programme management staff and senior staff, with little knowledge of ageing or
working with older people in humanitarian contexts. It is a self-guided and
self-paced online course.
How will I benefit from this course? On completion of this course you will be able to understand:
healthy ageing,
examining mental health, and highlighting the importance of non-communicable
disease management in later life.
- the right to
autonomy for older people and the importance of independent living in
protecting autonomy.
- gender-based
violence, its underlying factors and in later life, its impact on older people,
and the importance of GBV protection and response in a humanitarian context.
- inclusion of older
men and women to ensure their participation in humanitarian settings.
- inclusive
humanitarian program ensuring that older people with or without disabilities
can participate in the program development process.
How long will it take? This course should take you around 2.5 hours to complete.
How much does it cost? This course is free!
Will I get a certificate at the end? Yes - you will be able to download a certificate once you have have completed all of the modules within the course.
