Welcome to the Financing Arrangements in Start Ready DRF course!

This self-guided course will follow up on the knowledge gained from the pre-request courses “Introduction to Start Ready's Disaster Risk Financing-DRF”, “Contingency planning” & “Risk Analysis”. It is divided into three units: overview on financing AA & DRF globally and within Start Network, Start Ready different financial layers, and the process to access funds through Start Ready according to Start Network Building Blocks framework.

The course is for Start Network members and their local partners, in addition to relevant stakeholders e.g. Academic, scientific, and disaster management experts. It is a self-guided and self-paced online course.

How will I benefit from this course?

On completion of this course, you will be aware on: 

    • Financing available globally and through Start Network for Anticipatory Action & Disaster Risk Financing;
    • Similarities and differences between Start Network's two funding mechanisms: Start Fund and Start Ready;
    • Funding layers that Start Ready accesses funds from,
    • & process to access Start Ready according to the Building Blocks Framework.

How long will it take?
 The course takes approximately 2 hours.  

We recommend to first complete the Start Network's other courses on Kaya: Crises Anticipation & ActionIntroduction to Disaster Risk Financing (DRF)Contingency Planning in Start Ready DRF and Risk Analysis in Disaster Risk Financing (DRF), that will take you through the concept of Disaster Risk Financing and the Start Ready Building Blocks framework.

Will I get a certificate and digital badge at the end?
 

Yes, you will be able to gain a certificate once you have completed all the modules and completed the post-course quiz. There is an 80% grade to pass and the quiz can be retaken up to three times.


You will also be given the option to gain a digital badge. 
A digital badge is like a certificate but it can be stored, displayed and shared online. You can create a portfolio of badges on myHPass, a platform dedicated to recognising humanitarians' skills and experience. Find out more about HPass here
