Welcome to the Risk Analytics in Start Ready DRF!
This self-guided course will follow up on the knowledge gained from the pre-request course “Introduction to Disaster Risk Financing (DRF)” to build the knowledge on the 2nd pillar which is Risk Analytics after understanding the 1st
pillar which was Contingency plan. It is divided into two units to: define risk
analytics, its importance, and components; then the process to build the model
and importance of using dynamic risk monitors. This is all as according to
Start Ready Building Blocks framework.
Is this course for me? The course is for Start Network members and their local partners, in addition to relevant stakeholders e.g. Academic, scientific, and disaster management experts. It is a self-guided and self-paced online course.
How will I benefit from this course? On completion of this course, you will be aware on:
- Risk analytics
role in DRF,
- Principles, elements and components of risk
analytics,
- Identification, development and management of
the required risk information and data for the decision-making process,
- Building process for the risk model and effect
of basis risk
- Usage of dynamic risk monitors

Will I get a certificate and digital badge at the end? Yes, you will be able to
gain a certificate once you have completed all the modules and completed the
post-course quiz. There is an 80% grade to pass and the quiz can be retaken up to three times.
You will also be given the option to gain a digital badge. A digital badge is like a certificate but it can be stored, displayed and shared online. You can create a portfolio of badges on myHPass, a platform dedicated to recognising humanitarians' skills and experience. Find out more about HPass here
