Welcome to the Social Leadership: A Different Approach. This course will develop your skills in Social Leadership and includes activities that focus on the development and application of Social Leadership in the humanitarian context. The course content was co-created with humanitarian practitioners during a pilot version.

We will explore Julian Stodd's NET Model of Social Leadership. Designed to develop Social Leadership capability for individuals and teams this course will guide you on your journey through the Social Age and allow you to experience social collaboration and co-creation.

What is Social Leadership?

Social Leadership is a style of leadership fit for the Social Age, the world of constant change we live in today. It is a form of authority earned within our communities, and founded upon our reputation. It can complement our formal authority, within a hierarchy, but it is also available to those with no formal power at all.

Social Leaders help an organisation to thrive, by connecting the power of the community to the everyday challenges of work. Social Leadership is built upon humility, fairness and kindness, but it’s no soft form of power: it’s a power that is earned and, because of that, it carries great weight. It’s built upon trust.

	Is this course for me?
	We all have knowledge that is precious and our responsibility is to impart this knowledge among those who can benefit from it. This course is especially relevant to you if you are working as a manager, for example as team leader or project manager. If you are a member of senior management through to middle management or community responder, this course will also help you to develop skills you need to work across traditional boundaries in the humanitarian sector.
	How will I benefit from this course?
	On completion of this course you will: Set strong foundations for becoming a Social Leader Understand the 9 core principles of the NET Model Identify your areas of strength and those you want to work on Curate and rehearse stories with people in your community Look at the communities you inhabit and how you earn reputation within them

	It should take you about 60-100 minutes per module. There are 4 modules in total.

	Will I get a certificate at the end?
	Yes! You will be able to download a certificate and claim a digital badge after you have completed all the modules and the feedback form.
