About this course

Short Summary:

Welcome to the Cash and Voucher Assistance and Child Protection e-Course. The course has been developed by the Alliance Cash and Child Protection Task Force co-lead by Plan International and Save The Children in collaboration with CALP Network and with the technical support of the Global Child Protection Area of Responsibility, Global Communities, the International Rescue Committee, UNICEF, War Child, and World Vision International.  This course is designed for technical staff working in humanitarian settings who want to understand the fundamentals of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) and Child Protection (CP) programming..

This course consists of four modules, each approximately 90 minutes long. You can complete them at your own pace.

  • Module 1:  Introduction to Cash and Voucher Assistance and Child Protection Programming

  • Module 2: Needs assessment and response analysis: Considering Cash and Voucher Assistance and Child Protection

  • Module 3: Cash and Voucher Assistance for Child Protection Programme Design

  • Module 4: Implementation of Cash and Voucher Assistance and Child Protection Programming

You can download a certificate once you have completed all four modules.

This course is designed for technical staff working in humanitarian settings who want to understand the fundamentals of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) and Child Protection (CP) programming. It assumes some prior experience or knowledge in either CVA or CP.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify key terminology, definitions, and principles for cash and voucher assistance and child protection.
  • Describe the basic elements of CVA and CP needs assessment, programme design and implementation.
  • Assess when CVA is an appropriate modality for use with children and their families.
  • Explain the relevance of CVA and CP in humanitarian contexts.
  • Identify age- and gender-specific CP and child safeguarding risks related to the various delivery mechanisms of CVA and strategies to mitigate risk.
  • Describe ways to meaningfully engage children in each stage of CVA and CP programming.
