Short Summary:

In this course, you’ll learn about Disaster Risk Finance (DRF) concepts, when to use DRF systems, and how to use the Building Blocks framework, a step-by-step guidance for setting up Anticipatory Action systems.  Modules will cover; and introduction to this DRF, how to develop a DRF strategy, setting up risk models, developing community contingency plans and accessing Start Ready financing.

Is this course for me? 

The  audience for this course is Start Network members and their partners interested in working on Anticipatory Action or DRF system development, a refresher for those already engaging in this work, and other practitioners from the NGO sector who are interested in this work. It is a self-guided and self-paced online course.

 

How will I benefit from this course? 

In this course, you will learn the core concepts and terminology of Disaster Risk Financing (DRF) and understand when and how DRF systems can be used. The modules are structured around the Building Blocks which the Start Network guidance for setting up Anticipatory Action system that can access Start Ready funding.  

 
How long will it take? 

Completing all modules and quizzes within the course will take approximately 2 hours.You can complete the course’s content in any order you choose. Your progress will be saved so you can always continue later from where you left off.

Will I get a certificate at the end? 

Yes - as you progress through the course, each module will unlock its own Certificate of Completion. Once you complete all required modules and activities an overall Course Certificate of Completion will automatically unlock. Please note - no digital badge is provided for this course.
