The Alert and Ready Communities (ARC) project aims to strengthen Local Governance in the Philippines by establishing and building inclusive disaster resilient approaches and institutionalizing standardized systems to ensure quality Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CBDRRM) planning towards the national goal of zero casualty in any disasters. The project is run by Save the Children Philippines in collaboration with the Local Government Academy (LGA) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and funded by the Humanitarian Leadership Academy through its Philippine Academy Centre.

This online course on Child-Centered Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Climate Change Adaptation Programming targets local government DRRM officers and their staff, other LGU officials and staff and other local stakeholders who have undergone the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Basic Instructor's Guide on CBDRRM by providing them this supplemental course on ensuring Child Responsive Governance. 

At the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Describe the child - his/her intrinsic characteristics and vulnerabilities
- Explain the basic rights of a child anchored on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child (UNCRC) and how these can be protected and violated during disasters
- Identify ways to ensure protection and promotion of children’s rights, particularly in the planning and implementation of a DRRM/CCA Program
- Enumerate potential roles of children in DRRM/CCA Program
- Differentiate the roles of duty-bearers and rights-holder in a Child Responsive Governance
