Welcome to the introduction to Start Ready's Disaster Risk Financing approach!
This self-guided course will build your understanding in the Start Ready's
Disaster Risk Financing-DRF proactive approach to predictable triggered funding
at scale for foreseeable crises, using innovative risk analysis, collective planning, scientific
modelling, and pre-positioned financing.
Is this course for me? The course is for Start Network members and their local partners, in
addition to relevant stakeholders e.g. Academic, scientific, and disaster
management experts. It is a self-guided and self-paced online course.
How will I benefit from this course? On completion of this course, you
will be aware on:- Some of predictable and forecastable natural
hazards,
- benefits of Disaster Risk Financing (DRF),
- key components of an anticipatory DRF (Start Ready) system,
- & Start Ready Building Blocks framework.
How long will it take? The course takes
approximately 2 hours, and it is divided into 3 units.
We recommend to first complete Start
Network's other course on Kaya, Crisis
Anticipation and Action, that will take you through the anticipation
cycle and the crisis anticipation process with Start Network to participate in the Start Fund.
How much does it cost? This course is free!
Will I get a certificate and digital badge at the end? Yes, you will be able to
gain a certificate once you have completed all the modules and completed the
post-course quiz. There is an 80% grade to pass and the quiz can be retaken up to three times.
You will also be given the option to gain a digital badge. A digital badge is like a certificate but it can be stored, displayed and shared online. You can create a portfolio of badges on myHPass, a platform dedicated to recognising humanitarians' skills and experience. Find out more about HPass here
