This hub is for any of the organisations who are part of the Tadamon project looking to strengthen their capacity on leadership, partnerships and inclusion.

Learners completing essential courses in the People Management pathway will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of the HR Function in humanitarian emergency responses and the elements of a basic HR strategy, organisational structure and the scope of responsibility of HR in a response.
  • Describe the recruitment in emergency standards by using tools and practices given in this training.
  • Identify some HR tools available to manage humanitarian personnel.
  • Design basic engagement and recognition initiatives for teams.
  • Accept responsibility and demonstrate commitment to staff well-being.
  • Compare and contrast different people management approaches
  • Discuss how to perform key people management activities
  • Explain skills that will enhance team performance (e.g. active Listening; teamwork skills; using teamwork to boost performance; giving and receiving feedback).
  • Develop long term professional development plans
  • Point out methods of dealing with conflict in the workplace
  • Align staff goals to organisational goals and conduct performance reviews
  • Demonstrate an understanding of different learning styles
  • Express the differences between coaching and mentoring and what they looks like in practice
  • Identify needs of people being coached
  • Outline best practices related to giving and receiving feedback
  • Chart the phases of the mentoring relationship and key tools required for mentoring
  • Prepare actions to end formal coaching and mentoring relationships
  • Group common workplace risks and understand the risk of accidents
  • Comment on how to use a workstation, legal obligations related to health and safety including duty of care, and strategies to manage stress
  • Articulate essential actions related to workplace safety (e.g. first aid basics and fire safety)
  • Apply child protection and safeguarding principles in the workplace
