Welcome to Gender Responsive EiE
This course is part of the full Education in Emergencies (EiE) Online Course. Gender-based discrimination and violence exist in all of society and the world, including in emergency situations, where it can become more prevalent due to increased insecurity, poverty and pressure on societies that exacerbate existing inequalities. These inequalities are different based on intersecting identities. Emergencies should not be allowed to prevent, disrupt or slow down this process of equality. Instead, they should be seen as windows of opportunity to initiate or accelerate this process through effective, inclusive EiE programming. Doing this requires applying a gender-responsive lens to every stage of programming. This unit will look at some of the key concepts of Gender Responsive EiE and strategies for putting it into practice.
