This Responsible Data Management in Emergencies module is part of HOP Fundamentals, an open-access, self-paced catalogue of quality assured and interactive learning modules, curated by partner providers or created by Save the Children. It is one of three levels of the HOP. 


Fundamentals is aimed at people beginning their career in the humanitarian sector or for those transitioning from the development sector. It is also aimed at individuals who have never received formal training on the essentials of humanitarian action, or for those wishing to ‘refresh’ their knowledge. 


Fundamentals has been carefully designed to provide a streamlined learning journey which covers the key topics related to the delivery of quality emergency responses.

How will I benefit from this module?


This module aims to underline the responsibility of humanitarian actors to ensure safe and responsible management of the data they collect from people as part of their humanitarian activities. 

This module highlights the severe personal risks involved if humanitarian and personal data is not managed responsibly, while also providing key principles to inform your way of thinking about data management, and practical steps for ensuring responsible data management in a humanitarian response.
