The target audience is health facility-based and community-based health workers who will be managing childhood wasting. There is also information for programmers and trainers. One module is targeted at training caregivers in Family MUAC.

How will I benefit from this resource?
This manual will:
  • Provide a summary background on Simplified Approaches to detect and treat childhood wasting.
  • Offer guidance to programmers and trainers on combining simplified approaches within training(s).
  • Help trainers train health workers in delivery of Family MUAC, Community Health Worker-led Treatment, Reduced Frequency of Follow-up Visits and Simplified Treatment Protocol.
  • Help health workers train caregivers in Family MUAC.

How long will it take?
 These are all the resources to support face-to-face training:

  • Family MUAC: 1 day
  • Community Health Worker-led Treatment: 4 days
  • Reduced Frequency of Visits: 5 hours
  • Combined Simplified Treatment Protocol: 1 day

 The manual is downloadable free of charge.

Will I get a certificate at the end?
 No certificate will be provided for accessing the online manual. Local resource providers delivering the training contained in the manuals in face-to-face settings may provide their own certificates.
