Welcome to Impact Evaluation Methods Overview!

In this 3-hour course, you will explore the foundations of experimental impact evaluation designs, otherwise known as randomized controlled trials (RCTs), explore two key quasi-experimental impact evaluation designs used in humanitarian contexts. Additionally, you will learn about common threats to internal validity and practical strategies to mitigate these threats throughout the evaluation process. This course is the second in a two-part series developed by The Humanitarian Assistance Evidence Cycle (HAEC). While it is not a requirement, it is strongly recommended to complete the first course before beginning this one. 

	Is this course for me?
	This course was designed for those who have the following knowledge and interests: Basic understanding of humanitarian contexts and operations: This will help you relate the concepts to your work environment and understand the practical applications of impact evaluation in humanitarian settings. Familiarity with general M&E terminology: While not mandatory, some prior exposure to M&E principles and practices will provide a foundational understanding that can be built upon during the course. Interest in evidence-based program improvement: A genuine interest in understanding how to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of humanitarian programs through evidence-based methods will help you engage more deeply with the course material.
	How will I benefit from this course?
	You can benefit in many ways, depending on your situation. Here are some examples: better supporting partners doing impact evaluation work in the field; more effectively collaborating with researchers on impact evaluations; assisting in the planning, implementation, and utilization of impact evaluations; interpreting and communicating research findings clearly to stakeholders; and advocating for evidence-based decision making using impact evaluation results.
