The 40-minute Context Core course introduces a learner to some basic aspects of humanitarian programming.

From the perspective of a local organisation, the learner is encouraged to explore some key considerations that need to be taken into account when responding to an emergency.

Four key topics are highlighted throughout the course:

  • resourcing of a humanitarian programme;
  • humanitarian standards;
  • the pace of a humanitarian response;
  • and accountability to people affected by disaster.

(The course has been developed to accompany the 6-month learning and development Context  Core Programme).
