The goal of this capacity building initiative is to increase the disaster resilience of individuals and communities living in at-risk countries in the region.
This is part of the three months ‘certificate offered Makerere University and partner organizations involved in disaster risk reduction and management. The course promotes the sharing of knowledge, good practices and case studies not only by course facilitators, but also by fellow participants. During the course, online discussion is held to give participants opportunities to share their experiences, challenges and lessons learned from their practices to facilitate the highest learning outcome.
The course is based on the principle that interaction and discussion improves learning. Each module is structured with test material, case studies, exercises, discussion and course works that enable participants to practice and demonstrate the required skills. Materials corresponding with the module are distributed for each coming module and a number of video clips related to the key topics supplement the discussions.
