The purpose of these hazard atlases is to improve our efforts to reduce disaster risk and respond effectively when disaster strikes. The atlases are visual tools which bring together basic information about the various hazards faced by the people of Kenya. Unless all stakeholders are conscious of these hazards and deal with them appropriately, the security, development and prosperity as a country will all be compromised.

The content of the atlases was generated through consultations with relevant parts of the county government, supplemented with information from other sources where required and validated by the relevant institutions. We started working on it in December 2014 and are delighted that it is now complete. We welcome feedback on the document so that future editions can be improved.
